Structure and Body
Brief
We were required to understand the nature and characteristics of bamboo and demonstrate basic knowledge in construction to build a 1:1 structure for a specific action. The introduction of anthropometry and ergonomics were to be incorporated into our structure.
Outcome
A 1:1 scale bamboo structure within a 8 m³ volume space fit for its intended activity and placed on site.
Symphony
For this project, we were split into a group of 20 students. Our task was to construct a 1:1 structure for a specific action to be placed on site. The action/theme for our structure was celebrate. We started our project by taking measurements at the allocated site. We were each given different tasks such as taking measurements, taking pictures and analyzing the site.
Mock-Up Models
We split up into smaller groups of 5 to brainstorm more ideas for our model and these models were the results of our brainstorming. We decided to go with a parabolic shaped roof with triangles as the main shape.
Construction
We spent 2 weeks together building our structure in campus before finally transporting it to site.
